New Vegas has built-in support for Xbox controllers, but not for PlayStation. You need to trick your PC into thinking your PS4 controller is actually an Xbox controller. There's a program for this called DS4Windows (Note: I haven't used it myself so I don't know how it works, but you can probably find some information on their website).
