Both models are among the best Canon cameras you can buy and both offer high-quality, full-frame sensors; however, the EOS R5 boasts a higher resolution sensor at 45 megapixels compared to the EOS 5D Mark IVās 30.4 megapixels. This means that the EOS R5 can capture more detail, and its higher resolution can be useful for cropping images
Its sensor performance continues the upward trend for Canon chips too, although it doesnāt quite hit the dizzy heights of Canonās best sensor to date in the 5D Mark IV. This is a result of notably lower dynamic range recorded by the 6D Mark II at base ISO, which is a concern for photographers after the best image quality in good light.
When comparing the 6D Mark IIās 26.2MP sensor to the 5D Mark IVās 30.4MP, the 5D model has a slight edge. The 6D Mark II has an ISO range of 100-40,000 compared to the older modelās 100-32,000. However, there are very few instances where such extreme ISO settings from 30,000 onwards are necessary.
The Canon EOS 6D Mark II has a full-frame sensor size, which gives it an advantage over the 90Dās APS-C sensor size. This larger sensor size allows for better image quality and low-light performance. Additionally, the 6D Mark II has a higher DXOMARK score for the sensor, reaching 85 compared to the 90Dās score of 58.

Cheers, Mark. 11k. Posted October 10, 2017. The 6D is better in all practical aspects than the 5D ver 1, I wouldn't hesitate. It is smaller than the original 5D, has greater resolution, better dynamic range and low light ability and has a much superior (larger and higher resolution) LED screen.
